A Medicare Supplement Plan (also known as Medigap) is private insurance that helps cover costs not paid by Original Medicare (Part A and Part B), such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.
These plans are offered by private companies and are standardized into different lettered plans (like Plan G, Plan N, etc.), each offering a different set of benefits.
Medicare Part D is a federal program that helps Medicare beneficiaries pay for prescription drugs. It was established in 2006 and is available to anyone enrolled in Medicare Part A and/or Part B. Part D plans are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare, and coverage varies by plan, including which drugs are covered and the cost-sharing structure (like premiums, deductibles, and copayments).
Medicare Advantage Plans (also known as Part C) are all-in-one alternatives to Original Medicare. Offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare, these plans bundle Part A (hospital), Part B (medical), and often Part D (prescription drug coverage) into one plan.
These Plans often include extra benefits like vision, dental, hearing, and wellness programs
and usually require you to use a network of providers
